Tested and Hardened

Experience in everything is virtually impossible.

Experience in several things that will aid you in working through. Even battling through everything is most vital to survival. And probable if you allow it.

Never think that at some point someone will not get between you and your meal.

Never think that there is not something or one that will step up and challenge your existence at some time.

Observation is critical.

Focus is critical.

Freeing yourself from many of the things we are distracted by with is critical.

The great Henry Rollins once said in a spoken word bit to stay light. Nimble helps. If you are not presently. Know you will have to become that at some point.

Are you ready?

What lessons can you draw from? What experiences have tested you and hardened you?

Write them down. Study them. Tweak them. Find others that you have forgotten and do the same. Add a few more.

In our modern era what might you need?

  • Not a specialized skill for your 40 years in the factory.
  • Not an aversion to mobility.
  • Not a resistance to either lateral, or moves that appear to be a step back.
  • Not lighting candles each night for student loan abatement or UBI.
  • Not a dismissive attitude to both formal and informal education. You can trumpet learning after a baseline education. But you need to be taught something.

Counter to all of these will help. As will_

  • Sense of humor.
  • Enough self preservation to be gritty.
  • Knowing there are a few things you will absolutely do that others are scared to do. Not don’t want to. But scared shitless to.

And having already had your ass kicked publically and privately will help. If you lack that. Seek it. You will need it.
