Phone Freedom

I was preparing to take my son to our first NBA game since last February. Our Phoenix Suns (2 in the west) v. the Utah Jazz (1). Big excitement.

I attempt to download our tickets, and my Ticketmaster App tells me that it believes I am a bot. WTF? And so no download for you.

The was some plug-in running in the background on my phone that was disabling JAVA. No idea what it was. I removed much, cleared histories, etc. Nothing.

Finally, I just reset the damn phone and whipped out all data.

What I got back was basically just a phone with some factory apps.

All of the tons of apps I have added have gone.

FREEEEEDOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Amazing. What I realized is I need a few. Many not really any. But I travel a lot, so I had every rental car, airline, and hotel operations app. Plus social media……….Most are useless tracking devices and, frankly, probably ways into my command center for nefarious and hostile actions. I know for a fact I was caught in the Chinese attack on MSFT Enterprise. I became the unwilling owner of 30 domains in one sweep, which is how I learned I had.

I will see how long this lasts. But for the time. I feel free. More secure? No really. But somewhat better, having dumped a ton of crap off my device not touched and not needed.
